Aurora, Colorado
The city of Aurora is situated just east of Denver, still within sight of the snow-crested Rocky Mountains. Once a provincial farming community, Aurora has become one of Denver's largest suburbs and a city in its own right. With almost 300,000 residents, numerous historical sites and a range of activities, Aurora is a notable destination for shopping, relocating and entertainment.
Ranked ninth in the book "Lee and Sarahlee Rosenberg's 50 Fabulous Places to Raise Your Family," Aurora is known for its two award-winning school districts, the Aurora Public School System and the Cherry Creek School District. It also ranked fourth in the 250,000 Population and Above category of the Digital Cities Survey, which assesses how city governments use information technology to operate and serve their citizens.
Neighboring the Metro Denver area, Aurora has a high bar to reach to entertain its residents and accommodate visitors. The Aurora Fox Arts Center—a restored 1940s style movie theater—the Aurora Symphony Orchestra and the Aurora History Museum provide cultural amusements while the Aurora Mall, a 5-acre dog park, multiple golf courses and two reservoirs offers recreation and shopping. Every summer, Aurora also hosts an Asian Film Festival in collaboration with the Denver Film Society.
