Description

Joie de Vivre is a collection of colorful oil paintings, many depicting places in France. Artist Nancy Rourke uses brilliant colors, new primitive elements, strong brushworks, and flat compositions in these tableaux. In general, what she sees, she paints. The artist considers her style a Fauvism movement in today's modern art, and states, "My eyes are my 'ears' and my hands are my 'communicator.' I paint from what I see."
