City Leader Internship

 

The Global Autism Project is seeking a city leader for its signature fundraising event, the Paddle for Autism Awareness, to coordinate site-specific event planning this summer. The Global Autism Project works with children with autism in developing countries. Every summer, in several cities across the country, children with autism kayak (many of them for the first time in their lives) with their friends and families! This internship is an opportunity for motivated individual(s) to spearhead fundraising and planning efforts in their city prior to the event. This year’s events will take place in Boston, New York City, Chicago, San Diego, Portland, OR, Seattle, WA and Denver, CO.

 

Duties will include:

 

-         Securing location and coordinating logistics for event kick-off party

-         Securing location and coordinating logistics for kayaking event

-         Contacting local vendors for auction donations

-         Managing a team of volunteers

-         Communicating consistently with headquarters in NY

-         Participating in bi-weekly conference call with all city captains

-         Soliciting corporate and private sponsorships

-         Marketing event locally

 

Qualified Candidates will:

 

-         possess strong organizational skills

-         work well under pressure

-         be able to multi-task

-         enjoy working with people

-         have fundraising experience (preferred)

-         take initiative

-         be a creative problem solver

 

A monetary award will be available if certain fundraising expectations are met.
