In a city where there is an average of 300 days of sunshine a year, it’s not surprising that several rooftop bars in Denver draw big crowds. There are dozens of rooftop patios throughout the city, and more coming along each year as new businesses look to cash in on the obsession. Here are some of our favorites.

  • Linger

    Highland Park

    Once the Olinger Mortuary, Linger has become a much more lively organization that never let go of its roots. A church pew still sits inside (now a host stand) and the “mortuary” sign now boasts the best Denver “eatuary.” Look around for a number of other decorative nods to its mortuary history. The rooftop menu brings a variety of light eats from all over the world, and a lengthy drink list with a 4-6:30 p.m. happy hour offering half-priced wines by the glass and $5 cocktails.

  • Vita Restaurant

    Highland Park

    Even if the night is cool, customers can be found on Vita’s rooftop, where heaters are built in to ensure a comfortable night outside of the mid-summer months. The atmosphere makes it easy to sit and enjoy appetizers and drinks from the rooftop bar. Specials Monday through Thursdays make an easy excuse to visit more than once a week, or come for the two-for-one appetizers during happy hour from 3pm to 6pm.

  • Irish Rover Pub

    South Broadway

    It doesn’t have to be St. Patty’s Day to enjoy great Irish food and drink. Irish Rover brings one of the best mountain views of any Denver rooftop and it is one of the only rooftop options on South Broadway. There are a number of drink specials offered throughout the day, from $3 car bombs after 9pm to $7 bottomless Mimosas on the weekends.

  • Funky Buddha Lounge

    Capitol Hill

    Funky Buddha Lounge has two rooftop decks with DJs providing the soundtrack six days a week. The bar draws a big after-work crowd with with $3 wine, well drinks and drafts Wednesday to Friday from 5pm to 7pm. Food comes inexpensive, as well, with a range of bites, from sliders to kabobs to mac n cheese, for only $6.

  • The Pioneer

    University Park

    Near the University of Denver, the Pioneer brings the spirit of a university bar with a more sophisticated style compared to typical college bars. On the rooftop is a handmade statue of retired University of Denver mascot Boone, and DU gear adorns both the roof and indoors.

  • Club Vinyl

    South Colfax

    There is plenty to do inside Club Vinyl, a hotspot dance club with four dance floors on four different levels. When it comes time to take a break, step out onto the indoor/outdoor patio for a breather. Heaters and fire pits make the rooftop a refreshing option during any season.

  • Ignite!

    LoDo

    Ignite! Denver is situated right in the heart of LoDo and appeals to the beer-loving Denver crowd with over 30 selections of brew, including Colorado favorites like Fat Tire and Ska. But what really brings people out is the roundly praised food menu, with unique and delicious burgers, a number of other barbeque dishes and oven-fire pizzas. Their burgers are some of the most-loved in the city, with the downtown views from the rooftop capping a reliably great experience.

  • ViewHouse

    LoDo

    As the name implies, the ViewHouse is all about great scenery. Situated in downtown Denver, ViewHouse is a popular pre-Rockies game location and a constant party. The gorgeous downtown views and location directly across from Coors Field make this a popular destination. The rooftop is double tiered, with the spacious upper portion also regularly hosting live music events.

  • Historians Ale House

    South Colfax

    The Historians Ale House combines decorative and display elements of Colorado’s rich history with modern amenities. It’s as “Colorado” as a bar can get—historical design, 40 beers on tap from all over the state and a heated rooftop with views of the nearby downtown Denver skyline.
