The Lumber Baron Inn & Gardens was named after a Scottish immigrant, John Mouat, who amassed a fortune in lumber back in 1890 and built this mansion for his family in Denver's Highland neighborhood. The mansion features cherry, oak, poplar, sycamore, maple and walnut—all adorned with distinct carvings and ornate detail. The Lumber Baron even provides a resident chef, a graduate of Western Culinary Institute, who provides guests with savory cuisine for a meal to remember!

Mystery, Suspense and Comedy Dinners!

The Lumber Baron Dinner Theatre, located near downtown Denver in Historic Highlands, provides a truly unique dining experience complete with entertainment and gourmet cuisine along with optional bed and breakfast packages.

These murder mystery shows are interactive and comedy-oriented, that delight all types of audiences, and guests can participate as much or as little as they like. Guests who stay in one of the three luxurious suites receive a two-for-one rate for the dinner show.

Suites and Rooms at The Lumber Baron Inn & Gardens

All suites and rooms are equipped with an HDTV Plasma TV and Jacuzzi Tub.

The Honeymoon Suite
The Honeymoon Suite offers colossal cherry pocket doors, a spacious, round Jacuzzi tub in the tower, a large HDTV for an in-room theater experience and a carved mahogany bedroom set with designs to match the 1906 Neoclassical pastel ceiling patterns. This is the room for luxuriating in wedded bliss!

The Valentine Suite
This suite offers Far-Eastern Persian-style flair with the most complex and detailed Bradbury ceiling pattern of the entire Inn. Single guests and couples will enjoy the king-sized Indonesian wedding bed imported from Java. The Valentine Suite is rich, exotic and inviting!

The Colonel Franklin Room
This is The Lumber Baron's most affordable standard-sized room, boasting an outdoorsy Bradbury Woodland wallpaper set. A richly- grained, pillared oak mantle with "old west" tiles, and the walnut Eastlake style queen-sized bed are the highlights of this room designed to capture the spirit of the West!

Corporate & Special Events

The Lumber Baron Inn & Gardens is an excellent venue for weddings, corporate events, meetings and large group get-togethers. The first floor features three formal parlor rooms, each with a capacity of 25 people. The main parlor has a 50-inch plasma HDTV, dry erase board and restrooms. The third floor ballroom has room for 100 additional guests and the outdoor garden area can accommodate 150. This ballroom can also seat about 100 and has a dry erase board, pull down screen, CD jukebox, turret break-out room and restrooms.

In addition to these meeting spaces, The Lumber Baron has three beautifully appointed suites available at corporate rates. Over the years, The Lumbar Baron Inn & Gardens has hosted parties for sporting events, corporate meetings, bridal and baby showers, wine tasting and other parties of all kinds.
