Description
Traditional weaving technique of tapestry alongside a progressive woven sculpture technique. Maximo Laura's work is a fusion of traditional tapestry and contemporary style with three-dimensional representations of Andean mythological themes drawn from Peru's rich history of pre-Columbian cultures such as the Incas and their modern day descendants. Ruth Borgenicht uses the chain mail pattern and other woven patterns to create ceramic works that conjure up a sense of permanence and defensive concealment. Exhibition Opening June 11th, 5:00 – 8:30pm.
