Photo Martini: A Denver Photography Club With A Twist
Denver’s edgy Photo Martini Club draws creative Denver photographers together for artistic camaraderie and the endless quest for the perfect shot. Inspired by a conversation between friends over a round of martinis, Photo Martini Club of Denver welcomes photographers from all walks of life and encourages them to push their creative boundaries. Open to all photographic mediums, this Denver photography club offers professional and amateur photographers the chance to network, display their work in the club’s bi-monthly photography exhibitions and have their work published in SHOT! Magazine.
Founded by Andrea Sowell, a Denver photographer who craved the creative push of photography “assignments” and artistic collaboration, the Photo Martini Club is now 450 members strong and is re-making the Denver photography landscape. From brainstorming sessions at commitment meetings to helpful peer critiques and cooperative photography events, members of Photo Martini Club gain inspiration, build stronger portfolios, meet artistic challenges and build strong bonds within Denver’s creative community. Whether you’re a professional photographer with years of experience, or you’ve just taken a few Denver photography classes, Photo Martini Club welcomes your artistic views and creative energy.
Photography Shows in Denver Draw Arts Community Together
Truly collaborative in spirit, Photo Martini Club members vote on a topic for each bi-monthly show and then spend the weeks before the show date shooting topic-related photographs for display. Themes for Photo Martini shows have ranged from Rhythm to Voyeurism to In the Spirit of Jack Kerouac. As any format and experience level is welcome, Denver photo enthusiasts have used everything from camera phones to Polaroids to professional digital SLRs to capture their distinctive personal views on each topic.
Photo Martini Club shows are held at a variety of Denver galleries, bars and hotspots and Denver locals line up to see the innovative approaches and creative energy that makes up Denver’s photographic arts scene. Drawing all facets of the Denver arts community together, Photo Martini Club shows often feature the occasional belly dancer, DJ, fire spinner, massage therapist and tarot card reader. With ice cold martinis flowing and free appetizers for all, Photo Martini shows are a great way to socialize and get plugged in to Denver’s creative community.
