Wholeness & Healing, Naturally. Ayurveda, Yoga Therapy, Private Yoga (Individual and Corporate), Tibetan Cranial, and Thai Yoga Massage, by appointment in Denver (Cherry Creek North), Colorado.
AYURVEDA. Ayurveda is India's ancient healing science. It offers a holistic approach focused on helping people live long, healthy, and well-balanced lives. Ayurveda focuses on maintaining and restoring health by achieving balance in the body, mind, and consciousness through diet, lifestyle, cleansing practices, yoga, and herbal remedies. A consultation with Susan involves an extensive discussion of any imbalances you currently are experiencing and questions designed to determine your natural constitution, along with reading pulses and looking at the tongue. Susan will develop specific recommendations for you. These can include dietary changes, eating habits, daily routines, Ayurvedic herbs, yoga practices (breathing, meditation, and relaxation, in addition to physical yoga poses), pancha karma (cleansing practices), marma work (similar to acupressure), and other Ayurvedic tools. Susan is sensitive to the need for recommendations to be doable in the context of a particular person's circumstances.
YOGA THERAPY. Susan offers yoga therapy with a strong Ayurveda influence. Recommendations can be drawn from all facets of classical yoga, such as asana (physical practice), pranayama (breath work), meditation, relaxation, yoga nidra, cleansing practices (shat karma), yoga philosophy, diet and nutrition, and daily routine and lifestyle. Yoga therapy is a modern term with ancient roots. It is the use of the teachings and tools of yoga to help bring healing to body, mind, and spirit. By understanding how particular yoga practices affect the body and mind, a program can be developed for a client's specific needs. Susan has worked with individuals who have sought assistance with a wide range of concerns, such as anxiety, asthma, back pain, digestive issues, high blood pressure, insomnia, and scoliosis. Clients include experienced yogis as well as people who have had no yoga experience at all. Indeed, one of the most beautiful aspects of yoga is that it can be adapted to meet any person where that person is.
TIBETAN CRANIAL. Tibetan Cranial® is an ancient healing tradition from the Himalayan highlands. Known traditionally as "Thoba Khujatag," it is a disciplined technique designed to realign and restore our innate capacity for self-healing. Tibetan Cranial helps the body correct its own imbalances so that it can heal itself. Sophisticated pulse readings provide the means to deliver the most appropriate treatment. During the session, the practitioner works on the head and neck, using pulses to help the body achieve optimal balance. Unlike many other systems, Tibetan Cranial does not focus on a specific disease or diagnosis, but aids in restoring overall balance. Because the work helps to restore the person's own ability to regain balance, people have reported relief from a wide variety of symptoms. Many people with various symptoms (headaches, migraines, back and neck pain, anxiety, head injury, stress-related conditions, depression, many nervous-system related issues, and more) particularly enjoy TC.
THAI YOGA MASSAGE. Thai yoga massage is an ancient form of bodywork with deep roots in Ayurveda and yoga. It addresses the whole person through therapeutic techniques for muscles and connective tissues, stretching, energy work, acupressure, reflexology, and other methods, resulting in deep relaxation and healing. Sessions can be target specific areas of pain or discomfort, or can focus on overall relaxation. The depth of work can vary as desired, with techniques for deep tissue massage and myofascial release, as well as for gentler pressure. Hot compresses, with herbs believed to be anti-inflammatory and analgesic, can be used to relax the muscles and the nervous system. A hallmark of Thai yoga massage is passive stretching, with the therapist placing the receiver in various positions that recall yoga poses, to help open the body. Flexibility and yoga experience are not required: those who lack flexibility can benefit greatly precisely because of the unique use of stretching combined with other techniques.
PRIVATE YOGA & CORPORATE YOGA. Susan gives private yoga lessons, tailored to the individual's needs and desires. Susan teaches a wide range of asana (physical practices), from restorative and yin yoga, to gentle hatha yoga and power yoga. Depending on preference, sessions can include, or focus on, yoga practices other than asana, such as pranayama (breath work), meditation, chanting, mantra, or yoga philosophy. Susan is available to teach yoga and to give workshops on Ayurveda and yoga to companies and other groups, customized to meet specific needs and desires. For example, sessions can include breathing and meditation practices to reduce stress and increase focus, yoga poses that can be done in a business suit while seated at a desk to alleviate discomfort in the back, neck, and shoulders, more vigorous asana classes, or discussion of Ayurvedic guidance on diet and lifestyle.
